Many people seeking Community Center services have experienced trauma related mental illness. Among them are military personnel and veterans who have had exposure to traumatic events and have developed signs of post-traumatic stress and trauma related disorders.

Texas Council supports programs and legislation to ensure Texas veterans receive the mental health services they need. These activities include:

  • Community-based behavioral health initiatives for Veterans and their families
  • Tele-mental health services for under-served rural veterans
  • Programs for veterans who come in contact with the criminal justice system
  • Legislation to support the establishment of veteran court programs in Texas
Military Veteran Peer Network

Texas Council hosts monthly statewide webinars with Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN), and initiative of the  Texas Veterans Commission. These webinars are designed to facilitate coordination across the state between veteran peer service coordinators (PSCs), share best practices, reinforce the important work of the PSCs to support our military veterans and their families.
